To me Christmas means Jesus is born and it is a time to celebrate with my family. It also means a time to give gifts and have lunch at my Nana’s house. Then we always go and visit my cousins in Tauranga. Christmas means watching the happiness of my friends and family as they open up their presents.

Hokusaika
We have been doing even more Art Colouring Book pieces. I did Hokusaika this time. It was quite tricky to find the right colours.

Vincent Van Gogh
We have started doing the summer learning journey. We did an art colouring book thing today. We had to do different pieces of art and try to get them to look as close as the original as we can. I found it tricky to get all the different details correct. It was easy to choose the colours. It was really fun to get to do art on my chromebook. Camp Thank You Letter
Last week we went away to a Year 5-6 Tui Ridge. We did a whole range of different activities. My favorite activity was Rock wall climbing. We have been writing letters to some of the people who helped with camp. I was writing to my mum, because she was my group leader. Hope you like my post!

Dear Mum,
I am writing to thank you for looking after the group and beelining in
every activity that needed one. I really felt special having you as my
group leader. Mum, you made my camp days a whole lot better, and
it was very comforting to have you say good night.
Thank you for encouraging me to climb higher on the rock wall when
I was feeling really sad after failing the high ropes. You walked beside
me and when I was feeling grumpy you put up with it.
You have been the best instructor and the best Mum at the same time!
Without you there I doubt I would have had as good of a time. I feel really
happy and special to have had you as my group leader. Thanks for making
the Year 5-6 Camp the best!
Ngā mihi

Letter to the Editor
Today my class and I were writing letters to the editor of the Gisborne Herald. We were writing them because the river by our school is covered with blackberry bushes and it's the council's job to clear it up and they haven't been doing it. My school has been emailing them, calling them, andusing the Fix It app. But they never reply. Down below is my letter:
At my school, Saint Marys gisborne, we have Taruheru awa next to our school. We are a green-gold enviro school and we do lots of planting native trees on the awa banks. But there isn’t any more room to plant more native trees because the council has stopped mowing down at the river, and there are blackberry bushes stretching from the river up the banks near the fence line. We would like the council to cut the blackberry out and start mowing down there again. Then we can plant more native New Zealand trees,to provide shade over the river to encourage more little fresh water crayfish and other tiny creatures to start living there. I believe planting native trees will increase the amount of animals like native birds, fish, and any other native animals so that they can make homes. The birds can make nests in the trees, and the fish and other water creatures can live in the river. We are writing to the new zealand herald because the council have not been replying to our many emails.

Collage Pop Art
Today we had our cybersmart teacher in and we made pop out collages and used a sight called LunaPic. We made the collages with photos of ourselves. I found it fun choosing the filters. It was tricky to download it. The artist that inspired us was Andy Warhol.

My speech about Climate change
Malo e lelei. For two weeks my class and I have been writing our speeches. Mine is about climate change and how we can stop it. It was quite hard to find the information I needed for it. I found it really fun to write it when I had gotten the information and what I was going to write. Next time I would change the length of my first paragraph. I hope you like my screencastify that I made.

Video Game
On tuesday I went to an Arora Foundation. Me and my friend Kylah were chosen from our school to code a video game about a guy from a long time ago called Te Maro. We made a small video game to learn how to code before next week when we will be making the actual video game. It was at MindLab. It was hard for us to do the coding because we were get the codes wrong. Next time I think me and my friend Kylah would finish it and make it so that you die if you fall in the water or lava. And at the end we want to make it so that if you get to the chest at the end a message appears at on the screen and it says YOU WON! Please just play the game and don't change the code! To move you have to press the side arrow keys on your chromebook/computer. To go up or to climb you have to press the side arrow and the upwards arrow. I hope you like our video game!

This week me and my class were making newspaper paintings. It was pretty hard for me to find the patterns to use. Next time I think that I would find more italian patterns because I used them of them more than once. I liked making the colour for the paint. I hope you enjoy my post!

Haast's Eagle
Haast’s Eagle
The Haast's Eagle classification is the Harpagornis moorei.
It’s bill got to 130 millimetres, and its body was 1.4 metres. Its wingspan is 3 metres, the size of a small house. The males were smaller than the females, and its call was very loud and quite high-pitched. It had black feathers tinged with green and yellow, with a bunch of red feathers on its head.
The Haast’s Eagle lived in grasslands, forests, shrublands, and mountains. It would perch on ledges and giant tree branches while it waited for its prey. When it’s prey came near enough, it would dive from the high tree top or ledge of rocks and plummet down to the animal it was hunting and attack it. It would hunt animals much larger than itself.
The Haast’s Eagle’s diet included Giant Moa, ducks, and other birds. The Giant Moa was much larger than the Haast’s Eagle, but the giant eagle would still swoop down and attack it.

Maths Check Up Re-Do
Konnichiwa! I've already done a Maths Check Up, but I did the wrong times tables. This time I did my four times tables, my two times tables, three times tables, and elevens. It was tricky because of the timer, and I didn't know all of them. I enjoyed answering the ones I did know, because it made me feel proud that I knew them. I didn't get most of them write, but I don't mind. I'm happy that I got at least some of them. Next time I hope that i know them better so that I get more right. Down below I will put my results. red means I got it wrong, green means I got it right, and orange means I didn't answer before the timer ran out.

Pattern Ball P.E
You start off with a netball and Stand in a circle with five or six players and work out a pattern so everyone gets a turn with ball and it goes back to the starter. Then when you have sorted out a pattern you get a soccer ball and bounce it in that same pattern, but starting from someone else. Then after you have the pattern you get a rugby ball and do rugby passes in the same pattern again but starting somewhere else.
We found it hard to video it and get everyone in the screen.
We found it easy to figure out the pattern.

Transubstantiation means the conversion of the substance of the Eucharistic elements into the body and blood of Jesus Christ at consecration, only the appearance of the bread and wine still remaining.
Corpus Christi means the body and blood of Jesus Christ.
