Pattern Ball P.E

We are learning to communicate and work as a team.

You start off with a netball and Stand in a circle with five or six players and work out a pattern so everyone gets a turn with ball and it goes back to the starter. Then when you have sorted out a pattern you get a soccer ball and bounce it in that same pattern, but starting from someone else. Then after you have the pattern you get a rugby ball and do rugby passes in the same pattern again but starting somewhere else.

We found it hard to video it and get everyone in the screen.
We found it easy to figure out the pattern.

Matariki

This week we were creating Matariki FlipGrid videos about why we thought Matariki should be a holiday. I found it tricky to record myself. I found easy decorating the video. Next time I would change the colours.

Matariki

Matariki
Matariki is the name of a cluster of stars which is visible in our night sky at a specific time of the year. In June/July Matariki will reappear in the dawn sky - signalling the start of the maori year.

It is a time to celebrate new life and remember those who have passed and to plan for the future. And it is a time to spend with family and friends - to share food and songs and games.

Maori ancestors would look to Matariki for help with their harvesting. When Matariki disappeared in April/May, it was a time to preserve crops for the winter season. When it reappeared in June/July, the ancestors would read the stars to predict the coming season - clear and bright stars predicted a warm and abundant winter while hazy stars warned of a bleak winter.

Matariki has nine visible stars, according to leading maori astronomer, Dr Rangi Matamua, who’s been researching the Matariki for over 30 years. As part of his research Dr Rangi Matamua his ancestors were able to see nine stars. The nine visible stars include: Matariki, Tupuārangi, Waipuna-ā-Rangi, Waitī, Tupuānuku, Ururangi, Waitā, Pōhutukawa and Hiwa-i-te-Rangi.

Times Tables

We are learning our times tables. This week I am learning 7 x 4 and 8 x 4.
I found it easy to find out which ones I could and couldn't do. I found it tricky to take the photo.
Next time I would change the multiplications that I chose for this week.

Helps and Hinders

This week we were learning to combine sources of information. I found it fun to decorate the slides. I found it hard to think of the helps and hinders for refugees. Next time I would change the colours of the slides.

Comic Strip: Ahmet's Journey

This week we were making comics to explain about Ahmet's journey. Ahmet is a character in The Boy At The Back Of The Class. I found it enjoyable to explain about his journey. i found it tricky to find the right photos. Next time I would change to comic-like characters, rather than the real life people. Ahmetis a boy who came from syria and ran away from the war. He came to live in London with his foster mum and made some friends. He made friends with Josie, Tom, Micheal, and the narrator.

Transubstantiation and Corpus Christi

Today we were learning what Corpus Christi and transubstantiation means.

Transubstantiation means the conversion of the substance of the Eucharistic elements into the body and blood of Jesus Christ at consecration, only the appearance of the bread and wine still remaining.

Corpus Christi means the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

Gravity

What happens when you throw a ball in the air? It falls back down again. But why doesn’t the ball just float off into space? That’s gravity.

Gravity is the force that pulls things towards earth.
What is force? A force is the push or pull that acts against an object.

Boinks. Boinks are a flexible toy you put pressure on and it will fly up into the air. But obviously it will come down again, thanks to gravity. Dropper Popper. If you invert and drop dome-down with a ping-pong ball it will shoot up and then come down. Again, that’s gravity. So what we learned was that no matter where or in which direction, the ball’s coming down.

The holy Trininty

Today we were learning about the holy Trinity. The trinity is like an apple. The skin is like god. He protects us like the skin protects the flesh. The flesh is like Jesus, because he nourishes us. The seeds are like the Holy Spirit, planting the fruits of the Spirit.

There, their, and they're

WALT recognise homophones.
The words their, there, and they're are so often confused.
There means a place or a position.
Their means it is belonging to someone.
They're means that they are.
For example:
They're going to a party this weekend.
That is their toy.
They are over there.

Penticost

This week we were learning about Pentecost. Down below is my flame-dove. If you flip it sideways it becomes a dove. if it is down than it is a flame. I found it hard to make the dove-flame. I found it fun to trace the flame-dove. Next time I would change the order of the colours.
